| Before we introduce our products I would like to give
a background on haylage and Cool Forage. When haylage is mentioned
it is associated with horses with respiratory problems, e.g. Chronic
Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, which of course for horses with this
condition haylage is a god send. No more soaking hay which leads to
damp beds, cold hands and time consuming, only to be midly
effective. As although the water dries, be it on the stable floor or
in our horses beds, the moulds become airbourne and free to be
inhaled into out horses lungs once again.
With haylage this risk is completely eliminated and every horse
although they may not have severe symptoms, they may suffer
aggravated and inflamed airways from inhaling mould spores, Which
will affect even the healthiest and fittest horses' performance.
A great benefit from feeding halage is that the grass used is cut
generally earlier in the year than hay, at the time of year when the
grass is much more nutritious and with the help of our additive the
grass is preserved in the state giving the haylage a higher feed
value cutting the need for large amounts of hard feed and thankfully
cutting the feed bill!
An immediate benefit for the horse from feeding less hard feed is
that increasing forage intake increases the size of the fore gut
allowing the horses' digestive system to function as nature designed
it. A high fibre diet such as haylage can help prevent a rapid
increase in stomach and large intestinal acid content; in fact
stimulating and aiding the expulsion of accumulated gas bubbles that
can lead to colic! |
